Bohemia, soccer and sweet romantic reveries. Lyricism, restlessness and light –hearted outrage. Not only does his musical style revere the roots of the Brazilian music, but it also sounds absolutely up-dated. Marcus Lima manages to mix all these features in his songs and is about to release his third and most accurate solo CD which best pictures his art as a musician. The singer-song writer is ready to delight keen admirers of good music with his new set of songs which includes a contemporary “Samba” preserving the traditional Brazilian rhythm. It goes without saying that the overall exceptional quality of the CD also relied on the excellence of his music partners as well as the performance of some of the best instrumental musicians in the BPM (Brazilian Pop Music) who played the most sensible musical harmony developed with high-tech quality. This new CD has crowned Marcus Lima’s eleven-year-old successful career after having released two other CDs, “BATISMO DO MAR”- 1997 and “QUEM CANTA”- 2004, the latter with three nominations for the TIM Award (PRÊMIO TIM) in 2005, not to mention his successful participations in other music festivals and his partnerships with famous Brazilian song writers. In 1991, Marcus Lima had his first European tour and the second one happened in 1994. In 1997, he won the first prize in the Popular Music Festival in Bauru , São Paulo, with a song called “QUINZE ANOS”, which he wrote with his partner Ivor Lancelotti. When his second CD was released, Marcus Lima had also won first prizes in other music festivals in Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and São Paulo. In 2005, the artist enjoyed his first mass success when his song “DEIXA ABERTA” became a hit in most radio stations. Meanwhile, together with the actress and poet Elisa Lucinda, Marcus Lima staged a show called “Ô DANADA” in which memorable songs and poems were presented. In his most recent CD which is called “MARCUS LIMA”, the artist composes with Elisa Lucinda, Ivor Lancelotti and Marcio Proença, his partner in five of the eleven songs of the CD, including the song “QUE FUTEBOL QUE NADA”, also signed by Paulinho Tapajós. “JURANDIR” is a jazz-influenced Samba which uses football as a metaphor. A similar jazz influence is present in the song called “A FESTA”, in which a background horn is beautifully played by Jessé Sadoc. The songs “NÃO DEIXA O RANGO QUEIMAR” and “ANJO DA LAPA” express the typical Samba atmosphere of the local district, Lapa, as well as being able to reveal one of Marcus Lima’s major features : his good – temper. The third solo CD of the artist was produced by J.C.Carino. It reunites a team of well-known musicians, especially by those who enjoy typical Brazilian music such as Samba, Choro and Bossa Nova as well as Jazz. The combination of the highly stunning songs and the brilliant instrumental contribution of the awesome musicians represents a further step in Marcus Lima’s musical career. A previous one of the record can be heard in the address that the artist keeps in the site MySpace (www.myspace.com/marclima). The potential of the composer was confirmed now in 2009 with the writing of its music in partnership with Márcio Proença and Rodrigo Sestrem, “O SONO DOS JUSTOS” for the ALCIONE singer in its “ACESA” compact disc just launched. In fact, the new CD proves his talent and competence once again.
