Music has been a part of my life since the age of 4. Classically trained in piano with degree, having taught the RCM repertoire for 18 years prior to becoming a composer and songwriter in the 1980's, leading to my first publishing deal with CMC (Montreal) and record deal with Sun Records (Taiwan) back in the early 1990's. During my first trip to MIDEM in 1993, I became enthralled with the business end of the music industry, so I founded a small indie label and publishing company and have been attending MIDEM (Popkomm and other conferences) ever since, having made many wonderful friends and associates from all over the world. What I miss most, are all the old-timers... the patriarchs and founders of the well established independent record labels and music publishing companies who are no longer with us, although their companies continue today. I miss these wonderful people who taught me so much of the industry over the years (when no one shared information, especially the 'secrets' of publishing) and most importantly the good old fashioned "your word is your honour" and "handshake" that cemented so many deals and long term relationships. Most of all I miss the quality and integrity of well written music and songs, that is sorely lacking today.

A-B-A-C-A Youth Records Ltd. was one of the first independent record labels to produce a series of fine quality classical recordings by young Asian Canadian artists to promote back to Asia. A-B-A-C-A Music Publishing Inc. (1993) and API Music International (2008) were later formed in order to facilitate as publishers of new original material in a wide variety of genres.
