This piece is based on a theme taken from a Polish traditional folk song called “Szyszki” (“Pine Cones” in English). The relaxed and easy flow of the music expresses the idea of a slow walk in a park where the whispering wind gently brushes through the branches of tall pine trees. “Pine Cones” appears here as a guitar duet. The music can be likened to a smooth journey with the main melody coming in and out throughout the entire performance, and with light modulations, spacious harmonic rhythm and melodic exploration during the solo section. The piece ends with an ostinato melodic motif taken from the main melody but slightly modified. Such an ending can be likened to finding a resting place after a long journey.
