DaGi’s music is influenced by his experiences in Des Moines, Iowa. He began creating music while in prison at age 16. It gave him a fleeting escape from his reality and a sense of freedom and hope during the time. One to see the light in darkness, DaGi recalls this period as a time during which he got to know himself better. He reflected on the discrepancies he experienced as a minority in Iowa. Being half African American and half Caucasian, he could see both sides of the racial spectrum which gave him an unexampled perspective.
