A-Maz, also known as King or A-Mizzy started working on himself as a musician in 2009 and having no teacher, mentor or guide, he learnt to harness his voice and emotions through a series of trial and error experiments. The first of these experiments was his debut song ‘Greenland’ with close friend, Ola Blaq and sadly, it flopped. He did another which was a rap song which didn't get a positive reception either. He however continued on that path till he started finding his footing and is now a very emotional singer that delves into rap now and then. His music addresses real life situations and his music is as real as they come. His music has a deep soulful sound with a lot of African influence especially in the percussions of the beat. His musical influences are slow, soul artists like The Weeknd, Drake, Adele and various artists across every genre. He was born in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria and attended secondary school in Jos. He credits his decision to delve into music to the influence Jos City had on his teenage years. He is currently an undergraduate of the University of Maiduguri where he has done a few live performances. In 2011, he released his first mixtape titled ‘Sickler’ followed by 2013’s ‘Journey To The Top’ which is currently in the works with a couple of well-received singles already releases. He is also working on a series of covers on YouTube called ‘The Classick’ with a couple of videos already released. www.iamamaz.com
