Personal profile
I am the founder and C.E.O. of Black & Yellow Records. I began producing music at the age of 13 in 1999. I got to work with a lot of people throughout the years, some went on to become big names that you listen to today. I even had a brief deal producing for Sony BMG in the early 2000's. I made BYR because, over the years of working with countless talented artists, only a very small few were getting signed to big indie/ major labels. There were so many truly talented and dedicated people that weren't getting looked at just because they didn't know how to present their music to the industry, market themselves, etc. I can't promise your success but I can promise my company and I will do all we can to give you a better chance at it. I work closely with every one of my musicians that have come and gone. One thing that most people fail on is, as soon as they are signed, they stop working hard. But the BIGGEST failure of artists on our label is lack of communication. We can not promote you and market you every month to keep your name out there if we don't know what's going on - new projects, etc. Lastly, I am currently a year away from my Bachelor's degree in Music Business. I've learned so much over my studies and it's always been extremely beneficial to the label and my musicians.
Company profile
Black & Yellow Records, LLC. was formed in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 2011. The company's goal is to take unsigned artists that may not be noticed by bigger indie labels or majors and give them a platform on which to showcase themselves on a global level. Our goal is to take away most/ all of the distractions that may keep musicians from writing/ performing. With today's internet it is easy to self promote on various websites however, they yield little to no results. Musicians have better things to worry about than how to market themselves. Unlike other labels, our musicians keep their own copyrights and instead exclusively license their music (via our contract) to the label so that we may promote and distribute them. Our artists also enjoy 100% creative freedom, you will never be told what to do. Though we may give suggestions to make you more successful, you don't have to follow them. We also work closely with our musicians in marketing and branding them. We make sure the artist is displayed and promoted to the public how they want. While we focus on rap and pop, our label is open to anyone with a strong desire to do music for a living.
