Personal profile

While in the military, Rico begin his musical journey by writing and recording his first song "To Be with You" in 1987. After his military service , Rico enrolled at Elizabeth City State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Industry Studies in 1995. While enrolled he wrote "A Lonely Night and co-wrote "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine". The latter was recorded by the group "Next Episode" for ECSU's CD compliation project "Check The Resume Vol 1. Interned at Intersection Records in Summer 1995 to Fall 1995. Wrote and Recorded demo interlude "Don't Look No Further" in Fall 1995. Wrote and Recorded "Promises" and "Come Back To Me" in Fall 1997. Participated in the music seminar sponsored by WNAA-FM in October 1998. Showcased at the Philadelphia Music Conference in December 1998. Co-wrote three songs ( All I Want To Do, Do You Wanna Dance, and Turn Away) for the local compliation CD "Goldsboro 27530". In 2001 co-wrote and provided background vocals for the single (Take Our Time) off of Richard Ashe's debut CD "Anticipation". Music Teacher for Wayne County Public Schools 2001-2004. Rico wrote,produced and arranged original compositions while teaching in the public school system. In Summer of 2006 wrote, produced and recorded his debut contemporary gospel CD "It's Time." In 2010 competed in the International Songwriting Contest. Co-wrote and produced song "Dream The Impossible Dream" in December 2011 for the Rocky Mount High chorus. Songwriter workshop presenter at the Southeast Urban Music Conference, April 2012. Music Industry Instructor for Wayne Community College's course Music Business Industry 101 for summer 2013. Co-wrote jazz ballad "Softly Tonight" with De Sayles of the De Sayles Septet, July 2013. Music instructor for the first annual Youth in Rhythm music camp July 2014.
